COX, SNYDER NAMED PRMC UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Jan. 7, 2013
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Juniors Imani Cox (Plainfield, N.J.) and Troy Snyder (Chicago, Ill.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of January 7. This is the first honor of the year for either student-athlete.
Cox was a force to be reckoned with this past weekend. At the Delaware Invitational, Cox placed first in the shot put and added a second-place finish in the weight throw. The junior threw the shot put 14.27m, a distance that was over three feet farther than the closest competitor. She became the only UMES competitor to receive two top-3 places after she threw the weight throw 16.86m to finish second.
Snyder was the top performer for the men’s basketball team in their 63-49 loss at American last week. He posted team-highs in points (13), rebounds (seven) and blocks (two). He also played the most minutes of any Hawk with 36 and chipped in with a 4-for-8 effort from the floor. He was also 1-for-2 from long distance and buried four free-throws. The game marked the fourth time this season that Snyder led UMES in scoring.
