Princess Anne, MD - Your Delmarva Shorebirds were on the campus of The University of Maryland Eastern Shore to be a part of the day's events. At UMES inside the William P. Hytche Center the university's beautiful state-of-the-art athletic facility saw Four Teams, Two Games, and One whole community come together to enjoy a day of competition, entertainment, and most significantly sportsmanship.

During halftime of the men's game, Delmarva Shorebirds, General Manager, Stephen C. Yaros accepted an award on behalf of the organization presented by UMES Intercollegiate Athletics Department. Keith Davidson, Director of Athletics of UMES presented the plaque at center court.

The plaque reads:

"Presented to the Delmarva Shorebirds: Your commitment and dedication to the support of the Eastern Shore and its constituents is unmatched. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department Of Athletics are grateful and appreciative of our on-going partnership to enhance not only two of the shore's greatest sporting attractions, but two of the shore's best organizations. ~ UMES Department of Athletics - January 16, 2006."

Your Shorebirds have grown and continue to grow a strong partnership with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Last season it was the 1st Annual "Negro League Night" Game inside Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, where the team wore 1939 Baltimore Black Sox Jerseys and held an auction that raised $1,000 towards "Your Shorebirds/UMES Scholarship Fund" for future students of the university. Your Shorebirds have announced they will hold the 2nd Annual "Negro League Night" (June 15) with jersey auction proceeds going towards the UMES Scholarship fund. As well as Arthur W. Perdue Stadium will be the home of the community's Juneteenth Festival on June 17.
