PRINCESS ANNE, Md.—Senior Troy Snyder (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Ashleigh Claybrooks (Manassas, Va.) have been named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending on February 11th. Snyder is receiving the award for the first time this year, while Claybrooks is being named for the second time.

In two home games this past week, Snyder was the Hawks’ leading rebounder in both games, and the leading scorer in one. Against N.C. Central last Monday, Snyder scored 12 points, good for second best on the team, and added eight rebounds as the Hawks nearly pulled off the upset over the first place Eagles. When the Hawks played another Eagles team, the Coppin State Eagles last Saturday, Troy led the Hawks with 15 and fell one rebound short of a double-double with nine. Over the past two games, Snyder added seven assists, three steals and a block. In eighteen starts this season, Troy is third on the team in points per game with 8.4, and first in rebounds per game at 5.7.

While Snyder just missed a double-double last Saturday, women’s basketball player Ashleigh Claybrooks accomplished the feat twice in games against N.C. Central and Coppin State. Last Monday, Claybrooks led the Hawks in points and rebounds with 16 and 10, respectively, pulling down the final rebound of the game to seal a 72-57 Hawks win and giving Ashleigh her fifth double-double this season. Claybrooks’ sixth double-double came just days later, when she scored 12 points while grabbing 11 boards against Coppin State last Saturday. In twenty games this season, Claybrooks is third in points per game (8.6) and rebounds per game (7.4) for the Lady Hawks.

Both teams return to action on Monday night when they visit Hampton for a 5:30/8:00 doubleheader before returning home for the Homecoming doubleheader versus Howard on Saturday. Game time is 2pm for the women and 4pm for the men.
