The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Basketball Tournament is just around the corner and the tickets are now on sale. Beginning today, February 19, 2009 the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Department of Athletics has the tickets on sale for its fans, alumni, students and supporters.
For just $100.00 or $50.00 for UMES faculty/staff, students and senior citizens, you can purchase your book of tickets that grants you admission to five days of basketball seeing Division I basketball at its best with the men and women's teams of the MEAC. The tickets can be purchased from the Department of Athletics by calling 410-651-6496 or by stopping by the Athletic Administration office in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center on the campus of UMES.
Why by your tickets from UMES? The Hawk fans will be treated to some of the best seats in the house, at the Lawrence Joel Mack Coliseum (LJVM) in Winston-Salem, N.C. The seats are in the lower level with a great view of the entire playing court. The tournament, hosted in part by Winston-Salem State University, will be played from March 9-14 at the Joel Coliseum and Winston-Salem Entertainment and Sports Complex.
Now is the time to get your seat and make plans to attend the 2009 MEAC Tournament. Payments can be made in cash or in check or money order payable to UMES. Either stop by the office or call 410-651-6496 to get a form mailed out.
The MEAC is a Division I basketball program comprised of 12 historically black colleges and universities located across the Atlantic coastline: Bethune-Cookman University, Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University, University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina A&T State University, South Carolina State University and Winston-Salem State University.
Both the men's and women's tournament winner receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament. The first game of the 2009 MEAC Basketball Tournament tips off Tuesday, March 10, and the championship games are played on Saturday, March 14.
