PRINCESS ANNE, Md.—Men’s basketball senior Troy Snyder (Chicago, Ill.) and softball junior Morgan King (Danville, Ill.) have been named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending on February 25th. This is the second time Snyder has been named to this award and the first time for King.

Snyder narrowly missed last week’s award with his 34 point performance at Howard back on February 15th. He did not disappoint in three games this past week either. On Monday against Morgan State, Snyder scored 21 points, good for second on the team. A double-double followed versus NJIT on Wednesday, when he scored 24 points and grabbed 14 boards as the Hawks nearly completed the comeback against the Highlanders. Finally on Saturday, Snyder grinded out 20 points against the Delaware State Hornets. With this second-half push, Troy has upped his season average in points per game to eleven, and he leads all Hawks with 6.4 rebounds per game.

King has put on a clinic in hitting in her first nine games this season. Her .500 average is the best on the team, and she has tallied four homeruns and fourteen RBIs over the course of the season, leading to a slugging percentage of 1.077. King’s marquee performance came in the Hawks win against Rider, when she went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, seven RBIs and four runs scored. Morgan added four more RBIs in a 3-for-4 effort against Morgan State, and in a rematch with Rider, she collected two RBIs and two runs scored while going 2-for-3 again.

Troy and the rest of the men’s team will host Hampton Monday night at the Hytche Center before traveling to Coppin State on Saturday. Morgan and the softball travels to Coastal Carolina University for a tournament this weekend.
