UMES ATHLETICS NEEDS LIFEGUARDS, WILL HOLD FREE CERTIFICATION COURSE
March 29, 2006 Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Department of Athletics is looking for a few good Lifeguards. The department will offer a certification class in nine parts that will train interested applicants and certify them as lifeguards. It is a free course. The department is offering a Lifeguard preperation class starting April 4th through April 18th, Tuesday's and Thursday's from 7pm - 8pm. This class will go over the basic skills needed to pass the lifeguard course. The class will emphasize proper swimming and rescuing techniques needed to be a certified lifeguard. After that there will be tryouts held on April 19, 2006 at 3:00 pm. If you have been previously certified there will be a recertification class for CPR and AED at 4:00 pm. There will then be a series of nine classes. All nine classes, beginning on April 20, 2006, must be attended to recieve the certification. Stop by the pool office in the W.P.
