PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore Gayon Evans (Clarendon, Jamaica) and senior Dillon Simon (Pottersville, Roseau) have been name the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of April 1. This is the second time that Simon has received the award, while Evans takes it home for the first time.

Evans collects the award after an outstanding effort at the Virginia Invitational this past weekend. Her performance in the event was highlighted by a first-place finish in the 100m, where she ran an 11.94 to pick up 10 points. She would then place second in the 200m with a 23.90 finish, which was just .3 points behind the top time. She concluded the invite by running the second leg of the 4x400m to finish second with a time of 3:43.33.

Simon was the top men's performer this week as he won one event and placed third in another at the Virginia Invitational. He opened with a first-place heave of 17.00m in the shot-put, which was nearly a foot father than the closest competitor. Simon then went on to break the program record in the discus with a throw of 53.65m to pick up six points and finish third.
