PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – This week’s Hawk Talk edition features volleyball schedule release and a Simon update.

Halfway through the month already, time flies when you’re having fun! Let’s jump right into it:

MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Nearly two weeks ago, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) track & field junior Dillon Simon (Pottersville, Roseau, Dominica) competed for his country in Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), located in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis. Dillon finished first in the shot put with his distance of 18.18 meters. The distance beat his nearest competitor by over two meters.

Later this month, Simon will compete in another tournament at Glasgow, Scotland.

VOLLEYBALL

Last Tuesday (07/08), the volleyball team revealed their 2014 schedule for the upcoming season. The squad will host 14 opponents, including two tournaments, inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
