HAWK ALUM EARL CHRISTY INDUCTED INTO HAVRE DE GRACE HIGH HALL OF FAME

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. -- Former Maryland State College alum Earl Christy has been selected as one of the four members of the Havre De Grace High School Hall of Fame Class of 2012, announced on Monday.

Christy, nicknamed "All World," graduated from Havre de Grace in 1960 after starring in basketball and track & field. He earned All-State honors in basketball and was one of the state's best in the long jump and the shot put.

After a strong high school career, he came to Princess Anne as a double sport athlete in football and basketball, eventually playing professionally for the New York Jets. He was part of the 1968 Jets team that won Super Bowl III. He was inducted into the UMES Hall of Fame in 1984.

The rest of the Havre De Grace High School Hall of Fame Class of 2012 includes Sheldon W. Cole, Ernest Rodia and Lou Ward.
