SANDERS, HALEY NAMED UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Freshman Chelsea Sanders (Rochester. N.Y.) and redshirt sophomore Hillary Haley (Oxon Hill. Md.) have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the period ending Nov. 15.
Sanders, a guard on the women's basketball team scored a team-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting in an 82-56 exhibition win over Salisbury University on Tuesday. Nov. 10. She followed that up with six points in a regular-season-opening loss at UMBC, 102-65, Sunday.
Sanders also had five rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 28 minutes against the Division II Sea Gulls. She was 3-of-9 from the floor against the Retrievers with two rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes.
The Lady Hawks (0-1) next travel to play Manhattan Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Haley, a guard on the men's basketball team, led the team with 13 points as UMES opened their season with a 75-57 home loss to Stony Brook.
Haley was 3-for-9 from the floor and 5-of-10 from the free-throw line for the Hawks.with one rebound, one block and one steal.
The Hawks (0-1) next embark on a four-game road tripstarting Tuesday at Marquette at 8 p.m. televised on MASN.
