Nov. 17, 2008 PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior Christina Estebane' (El Paso, Texas) and junior Neal Pitt (Fort Washington, Md.) have been named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Athletes of the Week for the period ending Nov. 16.
Estebane', a setter on the women's volleyball team, led the Lady Hawks to wins over Norfolk State and Delaware State before falling in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference volleyball tournament championship match in five sets to Florida A&M.
Estebane' totaled 125 assists, 39 digs and 15 kills in the tournament's three matches, earning a spot on the all-tournament team.
The Lady Hawks finished the season with a 25-9 record.
Pitt, a junior college transfer and forward on the men's basketball team, had a team-high 14 points with six rebounds in the Hawks' regular-season-opening, 60-44, loss at Stony Brook on Nov. 14.
