IOSIA, RAMIREZ NAMED PRMC UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Sophomore Saitaua Iosia (Long Beach, Calif.) and senior Anggie Ramirez Iosia was the driving force behind UMES’ second consecutive MEAC title this past weekend. The sophomore was named the MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Performer after she registered 60 kills, 32 digs and 10 service aces in three total matches. Her effort was capped by a 25 kill, 11 dig performance against Florida A&M in the championship game. She notched double-digit kills in each match, including 46 in the final two. Ramirez led the UMES bowling team to its second-ever Hawk Classic championship this past weekend. The two-time Hawk Classic MVP opened the tournament with an average of 216 across the first five games of day one. She bowled a tournament-high and career-best 279 against No. 10 Stephen F. Austin on Friday, before she notched a 232 against St. Francis (N.Y.) later in the day.
