PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Seniors Karona Roach (Bear, Del.) and Sha-Kiyla Finney (Portsmouth, Va.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week for November 26. This is the first time that women’s basketball or either student-athlete has received the award this year.

Roach tallied team-highs in points (14) and rebounds (eight) in the Hawks’ 62-46 loss to Old Dominion last Tuesday. She shot 7-of-10 from the floor and chipped in with a pair of assists. Roach logged 27 minutes in the game. For the season, she leads the Hawks in points-per-game (11.3) and steals (eight).

Finney totaled 12 points and three steals in UMES’ loss to the Monarchs. The senior finished with a 4-of-11 clip from the floor and had two rebounds. She buried two threes in the contests as well. For the season, Finney stands second on the team from three-point range (.375) and third in points-per-game (6.3).
