PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Seniors Karona Roach (Bear, Del.) and Sha-Kiyla Finney (Portsmouth, Va.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 17. This is the second time this year that the pair has been honored in the same week together.

Roach continued her strong play for the Hawks, especially late in the games, at the Lady Osprey Holiday Classic this past weekend. She began the tournament with 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in the Hawks’ 77-72 loss to Campbell. She also had two steals and was a 7-of-16 from the field in 32 minutes. Roach continued her strong play in UMES’ 54-52 victory against North Florida. She tallied a game-high 19 points with five rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes. For the season, she is averaging a team-high 13.8 points-per-game.

Finney shot just under 50-percent from the floor in two games for UMES this weekend. She tied a team-high with 18 points and had two rebounds and three steals in UMES’ loss to Campbell on Friday. Finney then went on to post eight points, six rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes against North Florida on Saturday. For the season, she is averaging 8.6 points-per-game, which stands second on the team to Roach.
