G. Stan Bradley came on board as Sports Information Director (SID) for the Hawks' athletic staff in July of 2001. Since then he has been working to build a relationship with local and extended media across the Eastern Shore and surrounding areas. Bradley has brought many new and creative ideas to UMES to further enhance its marketing and visibility throughout the community.
In 2003, Bradley was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs. In that capacity, he maintained his duties as the SID but took on many other tasks including: development, advertising, fundraising, facility operations and game day operations.
Bradley oversees design of all departmental publications and promotional materials, is responsible for the department's website, solicits many external events to come to the campus and acts as a liaison with local organizations and businesses, including the Convention and Visitor's Association in nearby Salisbury, Md.
During his time at UMES, he has redesigned the website twice, overseen the creation of a new athletic logo series, expanded the sports information staff, created broadcast agreements on local radio for men and women's basketball and baseball, started live video and audio streaming of many home events and reached sponsorship deals with area hotels, car dealers, bottling companies and restaurants.
However, he states that his greatest accomplishments are the staff he has hired and trained who have gone on to hold a variety of positions in various athletic organizations. These include the University of Massachusetts, University of Akron, University of Louisville, Howard University and the Buffalo Bisons Triple-A Baseball Club.
Prior to his current position at UMES, Bradley worked at the University of Maryland College Park with Campus Recreation Services as the Coordinator of Student Personnel/Training. He has also served at Salisbury University as the Public Relations Associate from 1997-98. He holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Maryland and two Master's Degrees, one in Human Resource Management and the other in Business Administration, both from the University of Maryland University College Park.
He works in a part-time capacity with The Delmarva Shorebirds Baseball Club, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, as their official scorer. He also works with Wicomico County, Md. in a variety of roles with athletic events including the Holiday Basketball Tournament and D-III baseball regional, and is a 10-year veteran of high school basketball officiating.
Bradley lives in Laurel, Del., with his wife of seven years, Jennie, their three-year old son Carter, and their dog, Zenna. |
