Edward Jones joined the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletics Department in August 2011 and serves as the Assistant Director of Marketing & Media Relations. He is the contact for men's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and softball.
Jones has a plethora of experience in marketing. He began his career in 2006 as a Marketing/Ticketing Representative for the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, N.C. Jones also served as a Communications Assistant with the Carolina Panthers in 2006.
He would then go on to become the Coordinator for Sports Marketing and Communications at Regis College in Weston, Mass. During his four years at Regis, Jones was also a Co-Advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Jones also has an expanded knowledge in sports leadership. In 2008, he was selected as one of 16 athletic professionals from NCAA Division III institutions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic to facilitate two regional NCAA Student-Athlete Leaderships Forums. The Chesapeake, Va., native also spent time at the NCAA Women's Leadership Symposium in 2009 and the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum from 2010-11. This past year, Jones traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum.
Jones played four years of football as a defensive back for East Carolina. After ECU, he signed with the Worcester Surge of the Continental Indoor Football League in 2008. He would go on to play two years with the Surge.
Jones resides in Salisbury, Md., and enjoys his free time shopping online. He also likes pottery, whittling wood and jigsaw puzzles.
