UMES coaches and administrators takes on challenge for a cause
Neema Connor has spent the better part of a decade with the UMES Athletic Department, beginning as a Graduate Assistant for Academics from 2001-2003. Connor earned her Master's of Science from UMES in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2003 and was immediately hired as the Assistant Compliance Officer. She was then promoted to her current position of Director of Compliance in 2005.
As the Director of Compliance, Connor is in charge of assisting the certifcation athletes for competition and making sure the Athletics Department complies by NCAA rules and regulations.
Connor was a track student-athlete at Essex County College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Social Sciences before running at the University of Pittsburgh. She was a team captain for Pitt in addition to being the team's SAAC representative, making the Dean's List and graduating in 2001. During her time at the two colleges, Connor competed in the NCAA and NJCAA Championships and was recognizd at the Hampton Games. Her main events were the 800m and 400m hurdles.
Currently, she is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administration (NACWAA), National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Minorities Opportunity Athletics Association (MOAA).
Connor was born in Georgetown, Guyana and is one of 17 children. She is married to Marcellus Connor and resides in Princess Anne. Her hobbies include traveling, doing things outdoors and reading.
