Harry the Hawk Mascot Tryout Packet (complete and return to the office of Media Relations at UMES) Harry the Hawk Mission Statement: The University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a NCAA Division I institution, believes in fostering a game day environment of excitement, tradition and crowd interaction. It is important to the department to be a visible entity on campus and in the community. This will be accomplished through Harry the Hawk, the institution’s and athletic department’s mascot, who acts as an extension of department personnel to appear at athletic, alumni, community and other University functions.
