Pat Nativio Head Athletic Trainer
Pat Nativio is in her fifth season as Head Athletic Trainer and sixth overall year at UMES. She oversees the day-to-day operations of medical services for all Hawks intercollegiate athletics. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Nativio earned a B.S. in Sports Medicine from Waynesburg (Pa.) University and an M.S. from Slippery Rock (Pa.) University. She gained additional athletic training experiences at Grove City College and at the Greenville Orthopedic Association in Pennsylvania.
Nativio has taught at Western Michigan University in the Health and Physical Education Department, and is an approved clinical instructor for the Athletic Training program at Salisbury (Md.) University.
Nativio currently resides in Hebron, Md.

Corey A. Gilbert, MD Chesapeake Bay Orthopedics, PC
Dr. Corey A. Gilbert is in his first season as the team doctor for the UMES Athletic Department. He specializes in orthopedic surgery with a sub-specialty in sports medicine and arthroscopy.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Dr. Gilbert received his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. He then trained in orthopedic surgery at the renowned Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he also served as a team physician for the Washington D.C. Public High School football and basketball teams. Dr. Gilbert finished fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the nation's top sports programs at the University of Pittsburgh under the direct guidance of orthopedic sports medicine experts Dr. Freddie Fu and Dr. Christopher Harner.
Dr. Gilbert has also served as team physician to the University of Pittsburgh women's basketball and gymnastics, Robert Morris University men's hockey and as an assistant orthopedic surgeon to the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers and NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.
Having spent his career at the forefront of his field, Dr. Gilbert is dedicated to providing his patients with the best quality care, the newest surgical techniques and the latest protocols in conservative and operative care. His emphasis is always on the patient's individual and specific needs.
In addition to arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, Dr. Gilbert also specializes in shoulder, knee and hip replacements, fracture care and the surgical treatment of muscle and tendon injuries of the upper and lower extremity.
Dr. Gilbert is currently in practice with Chesapeake Bay Orthopedicsand has offices in Easton, Cambridge and Salisbury.
