Richmond, Va. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Men and Women's Basketball Teams were not the only ones in competition in Richmond this past week. The school's cheerleaders were there as well, competing for the co-ed and overall cheerleading championships.

The Hawks did well, placing two individuals on the MEAC All-Star Team and impressing the crowd with their athleticism and talent.

Brandon Flowers and Teresa Oxendine were named to the first and second team respectively. Their efforts helped the Hawks get some well-deserved recognition for their hard work all-season long.

The team unfortunately did not place due to some deductions for the absence of a spotter on a couple of routines. There were no problems and the routines were impressive to the judges and fans.

The Co-ed division was won be North Carolina A & T State University (NCAT) while Morgan State University took the All-Girls Division. NCAT took overall honors, followed by Norfolk State and Morgan State.
