PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Eastern Shore's most beloved bird, Harry The Hawk, the official mascot of The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), is seeking a few good Hawks, or birds of any feather, to help out this upcoming season.

The UMES Department of Athletics will hold mascot try-outs for the 2011-12 season and possibly beyond on Wednesday September 14, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. The try-outs will take place in the William P. Hytche Athletic Center's Dance Studio on campus.

Participation is open to students, faculty, staff and the public. The selected performer(s) may be required to work, nights and weekends as well as travel, throughout the year and will appear `along with' Harry The Hawk at various athletics and University functions.

The ability to be entraining, personable, meet deadlines and `stay in character' are required. Participants may register in person on the day of the try-outs or call ahead or e-mail to G. Stan Bradley, Associate Director of Athletics at 410-651-6499 or gsbradley@umes.edu
