PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Indoor Track teams performed well as they hosted the 2005 Coach O Indoor Track & Field Invitational.

The meet began with outstanding performances in the Pole Vault Candice Ringgold placing 1st overall. Tiwana Smith placed second in the shot-put, while teammate Tanesha Davis placed fourth. Petagay O'Conner placed third in the long jump, but made a big impact in the triple jump as she qualified for the NCAA provisional's with her first place jump of 12.65m.

In the high jump, UMES finished third on the women's side behind the effort of Kori Barrett and finished first on the men's side as Christopher Morrison reached a height of 6'10".

In the 60m hurdles the men took the top two spots as Dwayne Robinson (8.05) just inched out Ronnie Beard (8.09). On the women's side Shakira Robinson, who won the 200m dash with a time of 25.50, took second place with a time of 8.63. In the women's 800m run, Eva Slavikova brought home a first place finish with a time of 2:21.31, almost five seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Christopher Havrilla finished second in the men's 800m run with a time of 2:00.03.

 

 

Barnabas Togom and Pavla Zavoralova guided the Hawks to solid finishes in the 3000m run as Togom won the men's race with a time of 9:11.73 and Zavoralova took second on the women's side with her time of 11:17.21.

Closing out the days activities was the Women's and Men's Distance Medley, which the Hawks won on both sides. The Women finished with a time of 12:54.13, while the men ran the event in 10:31.43.

The Hawks Indoor Track teams will next travel to Fairfax, Virginia to participate in the Father Diamond Open Invitational on January 15, 2005.
