PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) men and women's indoor track team dominated in their second home meet of the year, taking first place in 15 of the 28 events.

Junior Shakira Robinson took home two individual titles at the UMES Hawk Games, winning the 60m in 7.65 and the 200m in 25.23. UMES had four Hawks finish in the top six in the women's 60m dash, with Robinson leading a 1-2-5-6 finish in the event. Chantelle Ringgold finished second with a time of 7.83, Nicole McKenzie took fifth in 8.05, while Petagay O'Connor, who provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships earlier this season, finished sixth with a time of 8.12.

McKenzie took first place in the women's long jump, while sophomore Eva Slavikova won the 800m in 2:24. Evelynn Mendoza and Pavla Zavoralova also fared well in the 800m run; taking second and fourth place finishes in the event, respectively.

Tiwana Smith and Tanesha Davis took the top two spots in the women's shot put, while senior Candice Ringgold tied for second in the pole vault.

The men also fared well in their events, with Duran Smith taking home individual titles in both the long jump and the 60m dash. Sophomore Kimani Kirton finished first in the shot put, out-throwing the second place finisher by over four meters, while Bryan Ingram took third in the same event.

 

 

Christopher Morrison took home top honors in the high jump and garnered a second place finish in the triple jump. Sophomore Ronnie Beard, who beat Morrison to a first place finish in the triple jump, was part of the men's distance medley team who took first in 10:34, outrunning the second place team by 1:30.

Barnabas Togom and Clayton James took a 1-3 finish in the men's mile run, while Christopher Havrilla won his first individual title of the year, taking the 800m run in 2:00. Three Hawks finished in the top six in the 200m, with senior Justin Head leading a 2-4-6 finish in the event.

The 4x400m relay rounded out the day for UMES and the Hawks took first in both events, with the men taking their heat in 3:22 and the women taking theirs in 4:06.

The teams are off until February 12, next traveling to Boston, Massachusetts to participate in the St. Valentine's Invitational.
