Princess Anne, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks hosted the Hawk Games this past weekend in preperation for an upcoming meet in Boston. The teams who competed were Towson University, Goucher University, Trinity College, Salisbury University and Delaware State University. "It was a good lo-key meet, that helped us to prepare for our meet in Boston next weekend", said Head Coach Ernest Barrett. The Lady Hawks had great performances from the jumpers and sprinters. Petagay O'Conner won the long jump with a jump of 18.04ft and Kelly Ann Lou followed closely behind, jumping 18.03. Shakira Robinson had outstanding performances, winning the 55m hurdles and placing second in the 55m dash. There was also an excellent performance by the Women's distance medley relay team, who broke the school record, running 12:23.92. The pole vault school record was also broken by Eboni Reavis, jumping 9ft.1in. On the Men's side, Joseph Hylton won the 400m dash and Damion Drummond won the mile run. The Men's and Women's team also placed first in the 4x400m relay.
The Hawks had a great outing and hope the success carries over next weekend as they compete in the St. Valentine's Classic in Boston.
