LADY HAWKS FINISH 18TH AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's indoor track and field team finished tied for 18th place Sunday at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, held at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

The Lady Hawks tallied 15 points over the weekend to tie with Vermont and Rhode Island. The University of Connecticut won the crown with an astonishing total of 96.5 points. Second place Cornell recorded a total of 52 points on the weekend.

The 4x400m relay squad that finished fifth overall with a time of 3:46.82 led UMES. The squad was made up of all sophomores - Emilie Ducados (Paris, France), Jennell Wade (White Plains, Md.), Melina Gallas (Paris, France) and Kenesha Abrams (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Junior Eunice Jones (Lanham, Md.) finished seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:12.99 while fellow junior Cynthia Anais (Martinique, France) was eighth with a time of 2:18.98.

The indoor track and field season wraps up next weekend with the NCAA Indoor Championships, held in College Station, Texas.
