VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) senior track standout Tanisha Wisdom (St. Catherine, Jamaica/G.C. Foster) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track and Field Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 13, 2008.. It is the second straight week for Wisdom earning the award.

Wisdom, in her third meet of the season, took home three first place finishes. She took the gold in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.55 and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.57, besting her mark from last week and setting the mark for the MEAC this season in the 200-meter.

Wisdom also took gold in the 4x400-meter relay. She ran the anchor leg of the event as the team combined for a time of 3:50.34, taking first place and topping powerhouses such as Rutgers and Princeton.

Wisdom led her Hawks to a third place finish in the 15 team field.

The MEAC also listed senior star Clayton James (St, Catherine, Jamaica/Kingston College) as an `other top performer' for his performance at the meet. James won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.54 and helped the men's 4x400-meter relay team take a gold medal with a time of 3:17.88. James helped the men take second place in the meet in a 14 team field.

UMES is back in action this weekend in at a meet in Landover, Md. hosted by the University of Maryland.
