Jan. 31, 2007 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - A Maryland-Eastern Shore thrower received national recognition on January 30 after a record setting performance at the Bucknell Open and Multi meet on January 26-27. Junior Kimani Kirton (St. Thomas, Jamaica/Kingston College) is currently ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Shot Put Rankings. Kirton broke the meet record, the facility record and the school record at Bucknell with a throw of 18.72 meters (61-41.7 feet) in the men's shot put. That throw also provisionally qualified him for the NCAA National Championship while breaking the previous Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) mark. The Hawks return to action on February 2-3, when they compete at the Akron Open in Akron, Ohio.
