GUION-FIRMIN, WALSH NAMED PRMC UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week were announced today and senior Lenora Guion-Firmin (La Trinite, Martinique) and senior Andre Walsh (St. Catherine, Jamaica) have been named the recipients for the week of Feb. 4. Guion-Firmin ran her fastest time of the year at the Collegiate New Balance Invitational in New York, N.Y., this past weekend. She used a 53.38 finish to place fourth in the 400m finals. Guion-Firmin’s time was just .4 seconds off of the event’s first-place time. She was also eighth overall in the 400m preliminaries, when she ran a 53.85. Walsh ran exceptionally well at the Collegiate New Balance Invitational this past weekend. The senior finished fourth in the 200m finals after he ran a 21.38. His time was .01 faster than his finish in the 200m preliminaries, where he was third with a time of 21.39. He also placed 15th overall in the 60m when he ran a 6.85. Walsh began the day in seventh after he ran a 6.78 in the 60m preliminaries. 2012-13 PRMC UMES Athletes of the Week
