DELHI, India - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore track and field team will send one of its student-athletes to compete on the world-wide stage as freshman Denvil Ruan represents his home country of Anguilla (British West Indies) in the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi from October 3-14 in Delhi, India.

"It's always an honor to represent one's country and Denvil has received that high honor," said head coach Ernest Barrett. "The Commonwealth Games is one of the biggest track meets in the world and this is a great place for Denvil to represent his country, his team, this university and himself well on such a large stage."

Ruan will compete in the men's 100m, which kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 6 with round one of heats. Qualifiers will move on to the semi-finals, held on Thursday, Oct. 7 before competing in the finals, also on Thursday.
