PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Sophomores Saitaua Iosia (Long Beach, Calif.) and Dillon Simon (Roseau, Dominica) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 3. The honor is the fourth of the year for Iosia, while Simon collects it in his first eligible week.

Iosia was the top performer for the volleyball team in their NCAA First Round loss to No. 10 Nebraska. She posted a team-high eight kills and four digs. The sophomore concluded the 3-0 loss with a .125 hitting percentage. With the inclusion of the strong performance, she finished the season with 384 kills, 62 aces and 223 digs.

Simon opened the 2012-13 indoor track season with a bang at the Navy Invitational this past weekend. The sophomore placed first in the shot put with a throw of 16.10m. His heave was 1.3m farther than the closest competitor and the throw qualified him for the IC4A meet later in the season. Simon was the only Hawk to win an event at the invitational.
