Now in his third year at UMES, Javid Brathwaite brings a wealth of experience and strong work ethics, primarily assisting with the Hawks pole vaulters.

Under Brathwaite's guidance, four Lady Hawks garnered top five finishes in the pole vault at the 2004 MEAC Indoor & Outdoor Championships. This season Brathwaite will continue his focus on pole-vault, looking to carry on the team's dominance in the MEAC Conference. His guidance has helped produce the UMES heptathlon record holder in Jamahl Strachan.

A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Brathwaite graduated from UMES in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He was a valuable asset to the track and field program for four years, winning silver medals at the 2001 MEAC Championships in the 400m hurdles and as a member of the 4x400m relay team.
