Now in his second year at UMES, Rohan Ferguson brings a strong work ethic and wealth of experience to the Hawks. Ferguson's primary responsibility will be throwing events. There have been major improvements in throws under his tutelage, helping to produce a 2005 MEAC indoor and outdoor champion and UMES and MEAC outdoor record holder (shot put) in Kimani Kirton. On the women's side, Ferguson assisted Dionne Wright to a 2006 MEAC indoor title (shot put). Under Ferguson's guidance, Wright also set a new UMES indoor shot put record. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Ferguson graduated from McNeese State in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in Business Management. He was a valuable asset to the track and field team at McNeese, winning a silver medal at the 2002 Southland Conference championships. As a student at Jamaica College High School, Ferguson represented his country in the 1998 CAC games and CARIFTA games, winning silver and bronze medals in the shot put and discus, respectively. |
