PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's and women's outdoor track and field team collected six top-10 results at the Penn Invitational at Franklin Field Saturday.

Despite running into a stiff wind, the Hawks' 4x100-meter relay team tied for the highest finish of any UMES team or individual at the meet, placing third in that race in 42.75. Freshman Monique Hawkins (Randallstown, Md.) also was third in her event, the 100 meters in 12.37.

James Moore (Manassas, Va.) finished in a tie for fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 1.93 meters. Danai Lendor (Lawrenceville, N.J.) ran the 400 meters in a fourth-place time of 58.24 and the 200 in 25.97 and was Lady Hawks' top finisher in both events.

Back on the men's side, Peter Sang (Kapsabet, Kenya) was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:59.60, while Thomas Keane-Dawes (Camden, N.C.) was eighth in the 400 meters in 49.12.

The UMES track and field teams are back in action at the Hampton Invitational in Hampton, Va., next Friday and Saturday (April 10-11).
