PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Freshman Vanessa Henry (Capitol Heights, Md.) captured the college women's eastern division of the shot put at the 115th annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field Thursday.

Henry topped a field of 32 with a throw of 14.76 meters (48 feet, 5.25 inches), just six centimeters off the event record, set at last year's Penn Relays.

Henry's teammate senior Saisha Woodward (Atlanta, Ga.) was sixth with a mark of 13.46 (44 feet, two inches).

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Celia Whyte (Manchester, Jamaica), Merrecia James (Portland, Jamaica), Danai Lendor (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and Cynthia Anais (Paris France), also won its heat in event in 3:46.94 to finish 19th overall in a field of 84 schools.

The Penn Relays continue Friday as the Hawks compete in the three more relays: the men's 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400.
