The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams opened up their Outdoor season with some good performances. Kimani Kirton threw 45.11m in the Discus and 15.66m in Shot Put, placing 4th overall in both events. Ronnie Beard placed 6th overall in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.80m. In the running events, Antoine Pugh ran a personal best of 54.75 in the 400m hurdles, qualifying him for MEAC Championships. The top finishers for UMES in the 200m dash were Shakira Robinson (25.45), Eboni Reavis (25.55), and Schachia Murphy (25.60). For the Women, Shakira Robinson ran a personal best in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.53 in the trials, placing 8th overall. Of several competitors, Deborah Meadows placed 13th overall in the 800 meter dash (2:18.98). The Hawks' next performance will be at Raleigh Relays on March 26, 2004.
