FAIRFAX, VA - The UMES outdoor track and field team participated in the George Mason Invitational on Saturday, May 7 with several athletes coming away with solid results on the day. Sophomore Dwayne Robinson took second in the 110m hurdles with his time of 14.06, while Ronnie Beard took fifth in 14.58. Beard participated in two other events, the 200m dash and the 400m hurdles. He finished eighth in the 200 (22.27) and fourth in the 400m (52.71). Justin Head followed him in the latter, taking fifth in 53.56. Sophomore Kimani Kirton finished first among collegiate competitors in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.64 meters, while Bryan Ingram threw a season's best 11.81m to take fifth in the same event. Junior Christopher Morrison rounded out the field events for the Fighting Hawks as he finished tied for third in the high jump. For the women, junior Shakira Robinson posted a personal best in the 100m dash with her time of 11.87, giving her a second place finish. Senior Chantelle Ringgold was fourth in the event (12.11). Ringgold also competed in the 200m, placing fourth in 24.69, while Robinson took fifth in 24.86. The track and field team will be in action again on May 13-14, next traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to compete at the Georgia Tech Invite.
