NEW YORK, NY - Sophomore Dwayne Robinson captured sixth place in the men's 110m hurdles on the final day of the NCAA East Regional Championships at Randall's Island, N.Y. Robinson finished his event in 14:01 to earn an at large bid to the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif. on June 8-11. The Jamaica native also ran a school record 13.86 in the preliminary round. Sophomore Ronnie Beard competed at his first NCAA East Regional and finished in the preliminary round of the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.27 seconds. Beard went on to finish the 400 IH in 52.82. Barnabas Togom set a school record with his performance in the 3000m steeplechase. Togom, the 2005 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) steeplchase champion, finished his event in a season's best 9:19. Kimani Kirton threw 48.63m in the men's discus, while Lady Hawk Petagay O'Connor nursed an injury but still managed to triple jump with a leap of 12.12m. Sophomore Eva Slavikova, the only other Lady Hawk to compete in the Regionals this year, ran a school record 16:25 in the women's 5000m run. The top five finishers from each event automatically advance to the NCAA Championships while the sixth, seventh, and eighth place finishers from each regional earn at large bids. The top six from the at-large pool, to be chosen on Wednesday, June 1, will advance to the National Championships in California.
