Princess Anne, Md. -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore had three student-athletes named to the conference weekly honors list. The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference named freshman Dillon Simon, and juniors Imani Cox and Lenora Guion-Firmin to its MEAC Performer of the Week list for their standout performances in University of Pennsylvania Invitational.
The MEAC recognizes both field student-athletes and runners for outstanding performances. Simon and Cox earned their recognitions for their performances in shot put and discus. Simon took second in both events, throwing a 46.34-meter toss in the discus and 15.00 meters in the shot put.
Cox won the discus with a 39.71-meter throw, and placed third in the shot put with an 11.87-meter toss. Vanessa Henry won field performer of the week the week prior in the same events.
Guion-Firmin was the Hawks only runner from UMES honored by the conference. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.30, and added gold to her finishes with a win in the 400-meter dash. Guion-Firmin ran a best 54.86 in the 400.
UMES recently competed in the George Mason Invitational, and will again be in competition for conference weekly honors.
