Towson, MD - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Alyssa Walker competed in the 2004 Towson University Open held at Johnny Unitas Stadium on May 9, 2004.

Walker won her heat in the 400-meter hurdles and first place in the event. Her time of 59.63 qualified her for NCAA Regional Competition held May 27-29 in Gainesville, FL.

"She has had a solid season and qualifying for regionals is a great feat," said Head Coach Ernest Barrett.

Walker joins fellow teammates Petagay O'Connor who qualified in the women's triple jump, Damion Drummond who will compete in the 800 meters and Kimani Kirton who qualified in the men's shot put.

"We expect good things out of these athletes," said Barrett. "They are all top competitors in the MEAC and we hope, top competitors in the NCAA Regionals," he added.

The Hawks leave on Wednesday, May 26 to prepare for the regional qualifying round. If they qualify at regionals they will run in Austin, TX June 9-12 at the NCAA Championships.
