June 2, 2005 PRINCESS ANNE, MD - Sophomores Eva Slavikova and Dwayne Robinson qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 1 by earning at-large bids in the 5000 meter run and 110 meter hurdles, respectively. Slavikova, who missed out on an automatic berth that went to the top five finishers in regional competition this past weekend, received one of the at-large spots in the field by virtue of having one of the fastest times among the remaining regional finalists. The Czech Republic native set a school record with her 16:25 finish in the 5000m run at the East Regional in New York on Saturday. Slavikova has since returned to her native country and will not compete in the National Championships.
Robinson received one of the six at-large spots in the 110m hurdles field after posting the second highest time among remaining regional finalists. Robinson, who transferred to Maryland-Eastern Shore from Mid-American Nazarene University, set a school record of 13.86 in the 110 hurdles during Friday's regional qualifying heats before placing sixth in the final on Saturday with a time of 14:01. The 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Sacramento State, are scheduled for June 8-11 at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif.
