PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Junior sprinter Allodin Fothergill (New Hempstead, N.Y.) has been selected to run the 400-meter dash in the 2009 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Arkansas, June, 10-13.

Fothergill advanced to the final in the East Regional at North Carolina A&T Friday with a third-place time of 45.94, but fell one spot shy of earning an automatic bid to Fayetteville, Ark. Saturday. He finished sixth in a time of 45.98 and was placed in a pool of student-athletes with hopes of being chosen for nationals.

He was on Tuesday after posting the No. 19 time in the country at N.C. A&T.

"Allodin Fothergill did an outstanding job at the NCAA East Regional Championships," said UMES head coach Ernest Barrett. "After running his personal record in the 400 meters at this stage of the season, he's ahead of where he was last year. He's coming into great form and will be ready for NCAA Championships."
