Brandon Eaton jumped 7.15 meters en route to a second-place finish in the long jump

BALTIMORE, MD - UMES' Brandon Eaton took second in the young men's long jump at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships on July 29. The sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland jumped 7.15 meters (23.5 feet) in the final round of the event held at Morgan State's Hughes Stadium.

Competition at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships took place in five two-year age divisions, with athletes generally falling between the ages of 8 and 18. This year's meet will serve as one of the selection pool competitions for the 2007 IAAF World Youth Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Eaton and the rest of the Hawks will begin the 2006 cross country campaign next month when they host the UMES Lid Lifter Invite on September 2.
