HAWKS A HALF POINT SHY OF TAKING MEAC'S ALL SPORTS AWARD

Seventy six and a half points is what the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) tallied in the race for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's Mary McLeod Bethune Women's All-Sports Award. That is out of a possible 96 points, a pretty good score for a successful women's program. It was, unfortunately for the Lady Hawks' athletic teams, a half point short. UMES REPRESENTED WELL ON MEAC COMMISSIONER'S ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Forty-five University of Maryland Eastern Shore student-athletes have been named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Commissioner's All-Academic Team, the league announced Friday. MORE[+]
Forty-five UMES student-athletes were named to the MEAC Commissioners All-Academic Team Friday.
UMES will host the NCAA Regional Meet this coming season.

UMES RECEIVES BID TO HOST 2009 XC REGIONAL

After hosting a very successful 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross-Country Championships, onlookers told Head Coach Ernest Barrett that the school should host an NCAA Regional. After some thought, Barrett and the rest of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) athletic staff applied to host the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Regional. One presentation, some forms, a few phone calls and a few questionnaires later, UMES was awarded the 2009 NCAA Division I Cross-Country Mid-Atlantic Region Meet. MORE[+]
