Kirongo is in his first season as the graduate assistant coach for the cross country/track & field teams after graduating from UMES in 2010. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in General Agriculture and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Food and Agricultural Science.
Kirongo competed for UMES all four years of his collegiate career and was a member of the 2007 MEAC Championship team.
2009 Cross Country Season: Placed in six events ... Crossed 40th at the UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational in 30:08.29 ... Finished 16th with a time of 30:17.28 at the Towson Invitational ... Ran a 29:23.71 at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational, which was good for 84th ... Placed 11th at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational with a 5k time of 16:59.16 ... Was 80th at the Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational with a time of 29:51.25 ... Finished 18th at the MEAC Championship at UMES with a season best time of 28:58.40.
2008 Indoor Season: Ran best 800 of season in 2:06.12 Jan. 4 ... Best 1 Mile was 4:37.98 on Feb. 2 ... Best 5,000 meters was 15:46.46 on Jan. 4.
2008 Cross Country Season: Finished all seven races entered ... Ran top time of the season in the Cappy Anderson Invitational at UMES, crossing 22nd in 27:26.68 on a five-kilometer course ... Was UMES top finisher in the Blue Hen Classic at Delaware, coming in 31st in a time of 27:47.99 ... Took 149th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in 37:15 on a 10-kilometer course.
