PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Cross Country team was led by Latitia Salley who won gold in the Delaware State Invitational. Salley ran a time of 19:19.09 for the women's team, while teammate Zavior Brown finished in the top 10 for the men's team. Brown finished seventh in a time of 16:39.51.

Emilie Ducados and Taylor Folk placed 17th and 18th, respectively, for the Hawks. Ducados earned a time of 22:31.53, while the newcomer Folks finished in 22:38.88. The men's Codjo Gbedo finished in 17:02.58, with Dennis Gonzales crossing at 18:52.78.

In the Hawks season opener, Brown, Gbedo and Gonzales finished as the first three runners for UMES similar to their placement in the Delaware State Invitational. Aaron Chatman followed Gonzales across the finish line with his time of 20:21.01, while Javierelle and Shaquille Turner crossed in times of 20:47.59 and 20:57.82, respectively.

Annis Mars finished with her time of 23:15.74, followed by Nancy Yao at 27:39.80. Kraig Webb posted a 21:14.57 for the Hawks, with teammate Joshua Booze completing his race in 24:07.07.

The UMES men completed the Delaware State Invitational with an average time of 18:44.71 to finish sixth place. The women's team finished tied fourth with an average time of 23:05.01.
