Princess Anne, Md.--Codjo Gbedo and Latitia Salley marked the highest finishes for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Cross Country team in their respective races. Gbedo finished with a time of 29:56.47, while Salley finished the women's race in a time of 21:23.92. The pair took 20th and 34th place respectively.

Salley earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week following the Hawks race at Delaware State University (Sept. 7). Gbedo has been one of UMES' strongest performers this season in both eight-kilometer and five-kilometer events.

Alonzo Jarmon finished 30th for the men with a time of 31:47.13. Teammates Javierelle Turner (33:12.88) and Shaquille Turner (33:19.02) finished in 37th and 39th place, respectively. Melina Gallas, Emilie Ducados and Taylor Folk finished in places 42nd through 44th, respectively. Gallas posted a time of 22:00.70, with Ducados and Folk crossing in times of 22:02.79 and 22:05.09.

Kraig Webb finished in a time of 35:21.56 for 43rd place, with teammate Joshua Booze crossing the line at 37:12.03. The women's Jennell Wade and Annis Mars finished back-to-back with their times of 23:13.36 and 23:17.08, respectively.

Latasha Moore rounded out the women's race with her finishing time of 26:16.84. UMES hosted its last meet of the season before MEAC Championships October 27. The Hawks return to the cross country course September 21 to race in the Towson Invitational. That meet is scheduled for a 4:30 PM start.
