PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --The University of Maryland Eastern Shore placed four of its cross country runners in the top 30 of the Towson Invitational Friday. UMES' Melina Gallas led the Hawks with her 27th place finish for the women, while Codjo Gbedo took 30th on the men's side. The women's team finished fourth, with the men taking eighth place for UMES.

Gallas posted a five kilometer time of 22:16.13 to lead the Hawks, with Latitia Salley coming in right behind Gallas in 22:21.30. Gbedo finished in a time of 30:20.51. Emilie Ducados and newcomer Taylor Follk finished 31st and 32nd, respectively, with times of 22:48.96 and 22:58.63.

The women's team finished with several Hawks completing the race in close proximity to one another. Jennell Wade and Annis Mars finished with times of 24:09.54 and 25:50.75, respectively.

In his debut race, Yonathan Estifanos finished in a time of 33:52.59. Kraig Webb and Alonzo Jarmon finished the invitational back-to-back, posting times of 34:05.13 and 34:05.57, respectively.

Nancy Yao helped the Hawks to its 132-point total with her time of 27:00.40. Latasha Moore finished in 28:20.49. Javierelle Turner, Aaron Chatman, Shaquille Turner and Joshua Booze rounded out the men's finishes in times of 35:04.27, 35:41.72, 37:17.75 and 38:11.19, respectively.

UMES will travel to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Delaware State on October 6 for the Delaware State Invitational. The meet is scheduled for 4:30 PM start.
