PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The fall sports season has began at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the first recipients of the 2012-13 Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week have been named. Sophomore Saitaua Iosia (Long Beach, Calif.) and senior Zavior Brown (Middletown, N.Y.) were the two honorees for the week of September 3rd.

Iosia claimed her second consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor after she led the Hawks to a 4-1 record at the Tiger Invitational in Savannah, Ga. The outside hitter notched 59 kills and 43 digs in the five games, while posting two double doubles in the span.

Brown paced the men’s cross country team to a first-place finish at the UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational this past weekend. He finished in second-place with a time of 17:15, as UMES posted a total of 35 points at the meet.
