IBE, BROWN NAMED PRMC UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Oct. 8, 2012
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week were announced today and seniors Ndidi Ibe (North Richland Hills, Texas) and Zavior Brown (Middletown, N.Y.) were named the recipients for the week of October 8. This is the third time that Brown has been distinguished with the award this season, while Ibe receives it for the first time.
Ibe was nothing short of dominant in UMES' 3-0 victory over Coppin State this past Friday. The senior led the Hawks volleyball team with 10 kills and six blocks in the match. She posted a .643 hitting percentage and added one dig. Her effort in the home opener also propelled to her to being named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Brown was up to his usual business for the men's cross country team at this past weekend's Delaware State Invitational. The senior finished in fifth-place with a time of 28:37.39 to lead the men's team to a third-place finish. His time was 15 seconds faster than the closest Hawks competitor and he was just seconds away from placing in fourth. Brown posted an average of 5:45.5 for each mile in the race.
