PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --Teammates Eunice Jones and Basil Melek were announced as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the week, sweeping the weekly honors for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This is both runners second mention on the conference honors list.

The pair also helped lead UMES to a sweep on the men's and women's side of the Delaware State Invitational (Oct. 7). The Hawks swept at Delaware State earlier in the season as well.

Jones had her season's best 18:06.66 finish to take first place, while Melek finished in 25:06 taking first place. Jones leads the MEAC with her best time as of Oct. 5 being an 18:46.37 which she set in the UMES Cappy Anderson Meet. Melek holds fourth place in the MEAC for best times among the men in 8,000-meter races.

The Hawks compete in the University of Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational (Oct. 15) as its last meet of the regular season.

On Oct. 29 the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will host the MEAC Cross Country Championships. For the second time in the last three years UMES will host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships (Nov. 12).
